Louisiana Authorities Searching for Driver in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on November 23 on US 190
On November 24, 2022, Louisiana State Police stated that Troopers from LSP Troop I were notified of a hit-and-run crash on US Highway 190 near LA 104 in St. Landry Parish shortly after 6:30 p.m. on November 23, 2022. Aaron Nathan Washington, 38, of Opelousas, Louisiana, was killed in the crash.
According to the first investigation by State Police, Washington was walking westbound on US 190 while pushing a bicycle in the westbound lane of travel when he was struck from behind by an unknown westbound vehicle. The mystery vehicle departed the area after the crash.
Washington was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition, but he died as a result of his injuries. Washington's impairment is unknown at this time, although a standard toxicological sample was sent for processing. Washington was reportedly dressed in dark clothing, and the bicycle he was pushing had no rear reflectors.
Troopers were unable to determine the specific type of vehicle involved in the original collision, but based on evidence left at the scene, they believe it is a white, early 2000s model Toyota Camry. The front bumper, hood, and right front fender of the Camry may have been damaged. The right mirror will be missing.
Troopers are urging anybody with information to call Louisiana State Police Troop I at (337) 262-5880 or their local law enforcement agency. No information should be regarded as insignificant.
Since the beginning of 2022, LSP Troop I has investigated 57 fatal crashes resulting in 64 deaths.
