Houma, Louisiana - Louisiana State Police Special Victims Unit (LSP SVU) arrested David Stevens Jr., a 51-year-old resident of Houma, Louisiana, in connection with a months-long investigation into child sexual abuse material (CSAM) crimes in the state. The arrest is part of an ongoing effort by law enforcement to target individuals involved in downloading, possessing, and distributing CSAM across Louisiana.
The investigation began in January 2025, when the LSP SVU identified internet traffic linked to CSAM activity. Using digital forensic techniques, investigators traced these activities to an IP address at Stevens' residence. After gathering evidence, authorities secured a warrant through the Terrebonne Parish 32nd Judicial District Court.
Stevens was already in custody at the Terrebonne Parish Justice Complex on unrelated charges at the time the new allegations surfaced. On July 28, 2025, he was formally charged with 1,000 counts of violating Louisiana Revised Statute 14:81.1, which covers pornography involving juveniles, a felony offense. The statute is designed to criminalize the possession, distribution, or creation of sexually explicit material involving anyone under 17.
Child Sexual Abuse Material, also known as child pornography, refers to any visual depiction of sexually explicit conduct involving minors. Under state and federal law, possessing or distributing such material carries substantial penalties, often resulting in lengthy prison terms and mandatory sex offender registration. Investigators continue to sift through digital evidence in this case, and additional charges may be filed as the probe continues.
The LSP encourages anyone with information about the possession or distribution of CSAM to contact authorities immediately. Law enforcement agencies regularly partner with the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children and other organizations to combat these crimes and identify victims.
An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
