Louisiana Authorities Asking for Help in Vehicle Burglary and Shooting Investigation in Prairieville

Prairieville, Louisiana - The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that occurred during a vehicle burglary in Prairieville, Louisiana on January 2. One of the suspects fired shots as they fled the scene, grazing one of the homeowners, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office announced on January 3, 2022, that detectives are investigating a vehicle burglary that resulted in a shooting in Prairieville, Louisiana.

Deputies responded to a shooting incident on Oakland Crossing Blvd. in Prairieville on Monday, January 2, at approximately 10:00 p.m., according to Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre. Deputies arrived to find two male individuals committing a vehicle burglary at a residence who had been approached by the homeowners. One of the suspects fired multiple gunshots as the suspect vehicle fled the scene, grazing one of the homeowners. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit gathered information throughout their investigation that identified the suspect vehicle as a newer model compact black SUV. Detectives believe this vehicle and the suspects are connected to a series of vehicle burglaries in Oakland Crossing and nearby communities.
