Louisiana Authorities Asking for Help Identifying Driver Involved in Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash on US 165

Ouachita Parish – On December 31, 2022, a hit-and-run crash on US Highway 165 claimed the life of a 39-year-old Louisiana man. The vehicle involved in the incident is currently unknown, and it is unclear if impairment played a role in the crash.

Louisiana State State Police Police reported that on Saturday, December 31, 2022, shortly after 7:00 a.m., Troopers assigned to LSP Troop F began investigating a hit-and-run fatality crash on US Highway 165, just north of US Highway 165 Business. Corkey Williams, 39, of Monroe, Louisiana was killed in this crash.

The initial inquiry indicated that Williams was riding a bicycle in the southbound lane of US Highway 165 earlier that night. At the same moment, an unknown southbound car approached Williams from behind and struck him. The mystery vehicle departed the scene of the accident.

Williams suffered severe injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ouachita Parish Coroner's Office.

It is unknown whether impairment was a factor in this incident; nonetheless, routine toxicological samples were collected from Williams and submitted for examination. The accident is still being investigated.
Troopers were unable to determine what type of vehicle was involved in the incident, but they encourage anybody with any information to contact Louisiana State Police Troop F at (318) 345-0000 or their local law enforcement agency. No item of information should be overlooked.

Troop F investigated 32 fatal crashes in 2022, resulting in 35 fatalities.
