Louisiana Authorities Arrest Student After Alleged Threats at School in Calcasieu Parish

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Louisiana authorities have arrested a student after alleged threats at a school in Calcasieu Parish.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) reported on April 3, 2023, that on Friday, March 31, at around 2:00 p.m., deputies were contacted about a threat made by a student at Sam Houston High School.

During the initial investigation, deputies discovered that a 14-year-old student had allegedly threatened to blow up the school. He was detained and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center after an interview with investigators, and he was charged with terrorizing.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board supported CPSO in the investigation.

Bobby Benjamin, a CPSO Safe School Deputy, is the arresting deputy in this case. Detective Kimberly Curran of the CPSO is the case’s principal investigator.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
