New Orleans, Louisiana – Law enforcement agencies across Louisiana are intensifying efforts to locate five inmates who remain at large following their escape from the Orleans Justice Center on May 16, 2025. While five of the escaped inmates have already been apprehended, the search for the remaining fugitives continues, with authorities urging the public to come forward with any information.

In a recent development, investigators from the Louisiana State Police (LSP) arrested Connie Weeden, 59, of Slidell. Weeden has been charged with one felony count of accessory after the fact, defined under Louisiana Revised Statute 14:25. This statute makes it illegal to knowingly assist someone after they have committed a crime, such as helping them avoid arrest or prosecution.

According to the LSP, Weeden maintained phone contact with escapee Jermaine Donald — who is still missing — before and after the jail break. Further investigation revealed that she provided Donald with cash through a cell phone payment app following the escape. As a result, Weeden was apprehended in Slidell and booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.

Under Louisiana law, those convicted of being an accessory after the fact face up to five years in prison, with or without hard labor, and/or a fine of up to $500. These penalties reflect the seriousness with which the state treats any attempts to aid fugitives.

Law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal levels are continuing their coordinated search. Officials stress that harboring or assisting fugitives not only violates the law but also endangers the safety of communities. Investigators remain committed to tracking down every lead until all escapees have been accounted for.

To encourage public assistance, several agencies are offering rewards for information that leads to the arrest of the remaining fugitives. Crimestoppers Greater New Orleans (GNO) is offering $5,000 per fugitive, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is adding another $5,000, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is contributing $10,000, for a total of $20,000 in potential rewards per fugitive.

Anyone with relevant information is encouraged to submit tips anonymously through the following channels:

  • The suspicious activity link at LSP.org
  • The LSP Fusion Center phone line
  • Crimestoppers GNO
  • The FBI Hotline

Officials emphasize that all tips will be handled confidentially, and community involvement is crucial for a safe resolution to this ongoing situation.

As the manhunt continues, authorities reiterate their message: helping fugitives is a crime that will be prosecuted. The public’s cooperation is vital in ensuring the safety and security of Louisiana neighborhoods.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
