Louisiana Authorities Arrest One Suspect and Are Seeking Two in Connection with a November 20 Fatal Shooting

Baton Rouge, Louisiana – Authorities in Louisiana have arrested one suspect and are seeking two other suspects in connection with a November 20 fatal shooting. The Baton Rouge Police Department revealed on November 20, 2022, that Homicide Detectives are investigating the shooting death of Jessie Johnson, 22, in the 9000 block of South Choctaw Drive at around 1:00 pm. Johnson and a front-seat passenger were inside an automobile when three suspects in a 2015 Ford 150 allegedly opened fire, striking their vehicle several times.
Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim, a 25-year-old man, was shot multiple times but police indicated that he is likely to survive his wounds.
Uniformed Officers were able to locate the suspicious car going on Airline Hwy with the help of concerned residents. The suspects led cops on a brief vehicular pursuit before fleeing on foot near the 10600 block of Airline Highway.
After a brief foot pursuit, Jakai Johnson, 18, was arrested. Two additional unidentified individuals remain on the loose.
Johnson was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for 1st Degree Murder, Attempt 1st Degree Murder, and Illegal Use of a Weapon.
