Louisiana - Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill has filed a lawsuit against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) within the U.S. Department of Justice claiming that they are illegally trying to restrict Americans' constitutional right to privately purchase and sell firearms.

Louisiana is one of several states in a coalition along with Texas, Mississippi, and Utah.

Recently, the Justice Department implemented stricter regulations mandating background checks and licenses for private gun sales. Claims have been made that the ATF's final rule might result in the closure of gun shows and prevent individuals from engaging in private gun transactions.

These limitations would necessitate that all individuals must obtain and pay for a license, as well as undergo a background check in order to sell a gun. The Louisiana Attorney General and coalition say that this is against the constitution, intrusive, and a clear violation of the Second Amendment rights of the people of Louisiana.
