Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced upcoming lane closures on Interstate 10 in both eastbound and westbound directions along the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. The closures are scheduled to take place on specific days and times to facilitate necessary maintenance work.

Eastbound lane closures will occur on Tuesday, September 3, and Thursday, September 5, from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. During these times, motorists traveling eastbound on I-10 can expect delays and should plan their routes accordingly.

Westbound lane closures are scheduled for Wednesday, September 4, and Friday, September 6, also from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Drivers heading westbound on I-10 should be prepared for potential congestion and adjust their travel plans as needed.

Emergency responders will have unrestricted access to the area, ensuring that emergency services can respond quickly and efficiently in the event of a crash or incident.

It’s worth noting that the road will remain open to regular traffic, albeit with a 16-foot lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone. This means that large vehicles, such as tractor-trailers or recreational vehicles, may need to take alternative routes or adjust their travel schedules to accommodate the lane restrictions.

The DOTD urges motorists to exercise caution and patience when navigating the affected areas, as lane closures can lead to increased traffic congestion and reduced visibility. By planning ahead and staying informed, drivers can minimize delays and ensure a safe journey.
