Raceland, Louisiana – Louisiana State Police Troop C initiated an investigation into a fatal crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 308 and U.S. Highway 90. This incident occurred on February 15, 2024, around 6:00 a.m. Sadly, Tony Mire from Thibodaux, aged 52, lost his life in this crash.
The initial examination indicated that Mire was heading south on LA Hwy 308 on a 2019 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Simultaneously, a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 was traveling in the opposite direction. It is still unclear why, but Mire did not give way to the approaching traffic, and instead turned left to enter the onramp of U.S. Hwy 90 East. As a result, Mire crossed into the path of the Chevrolet and was hit.
Mire sustained severe injuries and passed away at the site. The Chevrolet’s driver was wearing a seatbelt and did not suffer any harm.
A regular sample for toxicology purposes was taken from Mire and sent for examination. It was concluded that the person driving the Chevrolet was not under the influence of any impairing substances and they willingly provided a breath sample, which indicated no presence of alcohol. The investigation into this crash is still ongoing.
