Westlake, Louisiana - A new attraction has officially arrived in Westlake, Louisiana, offering Southwest Louisiana residents a much-needed oasis during the region’s sweltering summer months. The Lazy Gator Waterpark, a $25 million project spanning five acres at 2901 Westwood Road behind Pinederosa Park’s baseball fields, opened its gates to the public on June 27, 2025. The facility is expected to draw visitors from Westlake and neighboring communities across Calcasieu Parish, providing a local alternative to out-of-town water parks.

Features and Amenities

Lazy Gator Waterpark was designed with families in mind, boasting a range of amenities that cater to all ages. The park features:

  • Four water slides
  • A splash pad for young children
  • A swimming pool with dedicated swimming lanes stretching 7.5 feet deep
  • A 1,000-foot-long Lazy River, dubbed the Lagniappe Loop
  • Volleyball nets and beach volleyball court
  • Basketball goals and pickleball area
  • Separate locker rooms for men and women
  • Food and beverage service managed by Gator Grill
  • Pavilion and ample seating by the water

Inflatable water tubes and other recreational equipment are available, and the facility includes areas for both active and relaxed enjoyment. The park’s design stems from the Ward Four Recreation District One’s goal to create a true community gathering space after a successful splash pad sparked demand for a larger aquatic facility.

Admission and Park Policies

Admission rates are structured to provide affordability for local families while also accommodating visitors from outside the city:

  • Westlake residents: $5 with membership card issued at the Recreation Department
  • Non-residents: $15
  • Active military and those age 65 and over: $10
  • Children aged 1 and under: Free

The park currently operates as a cash-only venue, so guests should plan to visit an ATM before arrival. Other key policies include:

  • No outside food or drinks allowed
  • No re-entry permitted once guests leave the park
  • No rainchecks or refunds
  • All children 16 years and under must be accompanied by a guardian at least 18 years old

The Lazy Gator Waterpark will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Community Impact and Future Prospects

Built as a response to strong community interest, the water park is expected to serve as a vital hub for recreation in Westlake and across Calcasieu Parish.

With its grand opening, Lazy Gator Waterpark is poised to become a fixture in Southwest Louisiana’s leisure landscape, promising both fun and relief from the heat for years to come.
