Bell City, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that there will be alternating lane closures on LA 397, both eastbound and westbound, from Bill Gayle Road to LA 27 in Bell City. This construction project is set to commence on Monday, January 13, 2025, and will continue through Wednesday, April 30, 2025.

The lane closures will take place from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Motorists should be aware that a 12-foot width restriction will be enforced in both directions on LA 397 during this time. This restriction means that vehicles wider than 12 feet will not be able to pass through the work zone, and drivers should plan their routes accordingly.

The purpose of these lane closures is to allow crews to perform essential patching and drainage work along the roadway. Patching refers to the process of repairing damaged sections of pavement to ensure a smoother driving surface. Drainage work is aimed at preventing water accumulation on the road, which can lead to further damage and hazardous driving conditions.

To assist with traffic flow through the construction zone, a flagger will be present on site.

This project is part of ongoing efforts by the DOTD to maintain and improve Louisiana’s roadways, ultimately enhancing safety and accessibility for all road users.
