Cameron Parish, Louisiana – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced that a section of LA 27 North of Kelso Bayou Bridge will undergo alternating lane closures starting Monday, June 24, 2024. The affected area spans from Mile Post 68 to Mile Post 68.25 in Cameron Parish.
The lane closures, which will take place daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., are necessary to facilitate asphalt milling, leveling, and resurfacing work on LA 27. According to the DOTD, the maintenance project is expected to be completed within two weeks, weather permitting.
Motorists are advised to be prepared for possible delays and to plan their routes accordingly. The asphalt milling process involves removing the top layer of asphalt to create a smooth surface, while leveling ensures the road is even and resurfacing involves applying a new layer of asphalt.
The DOTD urges drivers to exercise caution and patience during this time, as the lane closures may cause congestion. It is essential to stay informed about road conditions and plan ahead to avoid any inconvenience.
The completion of this project will significantly improve the road conditions on LA 27, enhancing the overall driving experience for motorists.
