Vinton, Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced a temporary closure of the left lane on both eastbound and westbound sides of Interstate 10 at the Coone Gully Bridge, near mile marker 9.5, just outside Vinton, Louisiana. The closure begins at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 23, 2025, and will continue until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, 2025. This scheduled closure is necessary for construction crews to install sheet piles—a process that involves placing interlocking steel sheets into the ground to stabilize and reinforce the bridge structure.

These lane closures are part of a larger $152 million infrastructure project aimed at widening approximately 10.5 miles of Interstate 10 from the Texas state line to just east of LA 108. The project includes replacing and widening ten bridges, including the Coone Gully Bridge, and will expand the highway to six lanes to improve traffic flow and safety for motorists in the region. According to DOTD, work is progressing in segments to minimize disruption, and the overall completion is expected by the end of 2025, dependent on weather conditions.

Motorists traveling through the Vinton area overnight should expect possible delays and are encouraged to use caution in the construction zone. DOTD has advised drivers to remain alert to work crews and obey posted signage until the lanes fully reopen early Tuesday morning.
