Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana – Motorists traveling along the I-10 corridor in Lake Charles and Westlake should expect nightly lane closures and short-term ramp closures between December 2 and December 5. The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) has announced these closures as part of pavement evaluations on the eastbound and westbound approaches to the Calcasieu River Bridge.
The closures, which will take place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., will affect multiple locations along I-10 between the I-10/I-210 Interchange on the west and Bilbo Street on the east (Mile Marker 25.0 to Mile Marker 30.5). The affected areas include ramps along I-10 between Sampson Street and I-210, outside shoulders of I-10 between Sampson Street and I-210, outside shoulders of I-10 Service Road SR-14 eastbound west of Sampson Street, shoulders of Isle of Capri Boulevard east of Sampson Street, and outside shoulders of I-10 between Lakeshore Drive and Bilbo Street.
The closures are necessary to conduct pavement evaluations, a crucial process in assessing the condition of the road surface. Pavement evaluations involve assessing the condition of the road surface to identify any damage or deterioration. This information is used to prioritize maintenance and repair work, ensuring the road remains safe for motorists.
Motorists are advised to plan their routes in advance and allow for extra time to reach their destinations. The closures are expected to cause minimal disruptions to traffic, but drivers should still be prepared for possible delays.
