Lake Charles, Louisiana - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development has announced a lane closure on U.S. 171 North over Interstate 10 in Lake Charles beginning Tuesday morning.
According to DOTD, the left lane of U.S. 171 North over I-10 will be closed starting at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. The agency said it will provide an update once the lane reopens to traffic.
The closure is needed so work crews can install a pole to stabilize a communications tower damaged in a vehicle crash, DOTD said.
Lake Charles drivers who use the U.S. 171 North overpass at Interstate 10 should expect possible traffic delays during the closure. DOTD has not announced a reopening time.
The affected area is a key connection in Lake Charles, where U.S. 171 crosses over Interstate 10. With one lane closed, motorists may want to allow extra travel time and watch for changing traffic conditions Tuesday morning.
DOTD did not release additional details about the earlier vehicle incident that damaged the communications tower.
