Lake Charles, Louisiana - LA DOTD Implements All-Way Stop at Intersection of LA 14 and Corbina Road

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LA DOTD) has announced the installation of an all-way stop at the intersection of LA 14 and Corbina Road, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, effective from 8 a.m. on January 23, 2024. This decision has been made to enhance safety and reduce the number of crashes occurring at this intersection.

Motorists traveling both eastbound and westbound on LA 14 will now encounter new stop signs at the intersection with Corbina Road. Northbound and southbound on Corbina Road already have stop signs. The aim is to regulate the flow of traffic and ensure the safety of all drivers using this stretch of road.

The implementation of the all-way stop is a proactive measure taken by the LA DOTD after careful analysis of traffic patterns and crash data. By introducing this traffic control measure, the department hopes to mitigate the risk of collisions and safeguard the lives of drivers and passengers.

Studies have shown that all-way stops can significantly reduce the number of crashes at intersections. By requiring all vehicles to come to a complete stop before proceeding, the likelihood of high-speed collisions is greatly reduced. This measure will not only enhance safety but also facilitate smoother traffic flow, resulting in a more efficient commute for motorists.

LA DOTD strongly urges all drivers to be aware of the new stop signs and abide by the rules of the all-way stop.
