Lake Charles to Host Bayou Bash Gator Meet-N-Greet Event

Lake Charles, Louisiana - The City of Lake Charles is set to host a unique event, the Bayou Bash Gator Meet-N-Greet, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 9 to 11 am, at the Lakefront Alligator Pond, located just east of Visit Lake Charles. This free event, offered in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, the Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists, and Visit Lake Charles, will provide attendees with the opportunity to hold baby alligators and learn more about their natural habitat. The community is also encouraged to visit the newly refurbished alligator pond and interact with the lakefront alligators. The event will take place rain or shine, with indoor activities available inside Visit Lake Charles in the event of inclement weather.

The Bayou Bash Gator Meet-N-Greet is part of the City of Lake Charles Partners in Parks Initiative, which aims to promote community engagement and education about local wildlife. The event is made possible through a partnership with Indorama, a local organization that supports environmental initiatives. The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries will also be on site to provide information about alligator conservation and management.

The Southwest Louisiana Master Naturalists will be available to answer questions and provide insight into the natural habitat of alligators. Visit Lake Charles will also be on site to provide information about local tourist attractions and events.
