Lake Charles, Louisiana - A Lake Charles high school teacher was arrested this week after a student reported inappropriate conduct, according to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Detectives say the complaint involving Travis J. Provo, 36, of Lake Charles, was first received on January 30. The student, identified only as the victim, told investigators that Provo, who was serving as her teacher at a local high school, made a lewd comment to her while on campus. A lewd comment generally refers to a sexually inappropriate or offensive remark.
The victim also reported that, on one occasion, Provo grabbed and pushed her. During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office stated they were able to corroborate the student’s account.
Following the investigative work, authorities arrested Provo on February 27. He was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with:
- Indecent behavior with juveniles
- Simple battery
The sheriff’s office reported that Judge Tony Fazzio set Provo’s bond at $75,500.
The case is being led by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit (SVU) Detective Alexander Vincent, who is listed as the lead investigator.
The investigation remains ongoing under the direction of CPSO SVU Detective Alexander Vincent.
