Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) has arrested convicted sex offender Danny D. Dofflemyer, 63, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, following allegations that he exposed himself to a family member under the age of 12. The incident, reported on Sunday, April 27, has led to serious charges and a bond set at $700,000.
According to CPSO, deputies were dispatched to a Lake Charles residence after receiving a complaint of indecent behavior. During their investigation, officers learned that Dofflemyer, a registered sex offender, had exposed himself to a juvenile relative. After the alleged incident, the child notified an adult, at which point Dofflemyer reportedly left the home and did not return.
Detectives from the CPSO Special Victims Unit (SVU) continued the investigation. On May 1, a warrant was issued for Dofflemyer’s arrest on two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile. Efforts to locate him led authorities to believe he was in the Jennings area, approximately 40 miles east of Lake Charles.
With assistance from the Jennings Police Department, Dofflemyer was found at Jennings City Park and taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Jeff Davis Parish Jail, where his bond was set by Judge Tony Fazzio at $700,000.
Dofflemyer’s criminal background includes a 2000 conviction for molestation of a juvenile in Beauregard Parish. Under Louisiana law, individuals convicted of certain sex offenses are prohibited from being within 1,000 feet of schools, parks, or other places where children gather. Because Dofflemyer was apprehended at a city park, he may also face charges related to unlawful presence, which is under investigation by the Jeff Davis Parish Sheriff’s Office. This law aims to reduce the risk of repeat offenses by restricting access to locations frequented by minors.
CPSO SVU Detective Cory Myers is leading the investigation. Authorities have emphasized the importance of promptly reporting suspicious behavior, allowing law enforcement to act swiftly to protect vulnerable individuals.
The case remains active as investigators review all circumstances surrounding the incident and Dofflemyer’s compliance with sex offender regulations.
