Lake Charles School Disturbance Leads to Mother’s Arrest and Daughter Receiving Summons

Lake Charles, Louisiana – Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives were called to Washington Marion High School in Lake Charles, Louisiana on February 15 around 8:00 a.m. regarding a case of simple battery.

While conducting the investigation, it was found that a student who was 13 years old along with her mother, Precious Obrien, aged 34, of Lake Charles, had allegedly found another student who was attending class and physically attacked her.

The individuals who were believed to be responsible were eventually found and taken into custody. O’Brien was taken to the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with unlawfully disturbing school operations; contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile; and simple battery. The minor involved received a misdemeanor summons for simple battery.

The investigation was supported by the Calcasieu Parish School Board.

The case is being investigated by Detective Mika Miguez from the CPSO.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
