Lake Charles, Louisiana - Entergy crews are closing a section of Smith Road in Lake Charles each weekday so they can replace transmission line poles in the area.

The closure affects Smith Road between East Pinewood Drive and West Pinewood Drive. The road will be closed daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. through Dec. 11, according to the announced schedule. Each afternoon, the road will reopen at 3 p.m.

During the daytime closure, traffic is being detoured around the work zone using East Pinewood Drive and West Pinewood Drive. Drivers traveling through the neighborhood are encouraged to follow posted detour signs and use extra caution near the work area.

The transmission line pole replacement is part of utility system work designed to improve reliability and maintain safe operations. While the closure is in effect, local residents and commuters who normally use Smith Road during school and work hours may experience delays or need to plan alternate routes.
