Lake Charles, Louisiana — Drivers in Lake Charles should plan ahead as East Prien Lake Road will be closed for several days next week to allow for essential infrastructure work. Officials announced that the closure will begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 9, and continue until 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 12, as crews replace a cross pipe beneath the roadway.

The affected section of East Prien Lake Road is located approximately one-half mile east of Corbina Road and about 1.5 miles west of LA 397. This work zone is a key connector for residents and commuters traveling through the eastern side of Lake Charles.

A cross pipe is a type of drainage pipe that runs underneath a road to allow water to pass from one side to the other, reducing the risk of flooding and erosion.

During the closure, traffic will not be able to pass through the work zone. Officials urge drivers to use the recommended detour routes, which include Corbina Road, McNeese Street, and LA 397. Detour signs will be posted to guide motorists around the closure area.
