Lake Charles, Louisiana – A significant road closure is set to impact traffic in the area, as crews work to install a new underground storm drain pipe along Ryan Street. Beginning at 8 am on Thursday, October 24, the northbound lanes of Ryan Street, between Clarence and Gill Streets, will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. This closure is expected to last through 8 am on Friday, December 6, weather permitting.
To minimize disruptions, a lane shift into the southbound lanes will be implemented, allowing for two-way traffic to continue at all times. However, motorists can expect potential delays and congestion, particularly during peak hours. It is essential for drivers to plan ahead and consider alternative routes to avoid the area.
Additionally, Gill Street, between Ryan Street and Pithon Street, will be closed to through traffic. Local residents and businesses will still have access to the area, but others are advised to avoid the street altogether.
The road closure is part of a larger Ryan Street drainage project, aimed at improving the area’s stormwater management system. The installation of the new underground storm drain pipe is a critical component of this project, which will help to reduce the risk of flooding and improve overall drainage in the area.
