Lake Charles Residents: Prepare for Mardi Gras Waste Collection Shift and Public Works Closures

Lake Charles, Louisiana - On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, the Mardi Gras Holiday will be observed in the City of Lake Charles. There will be no collection of trash or garbage on this day.

The modifications in trash and garbage collection are outlined below.

The collection of trash and garbage that is usually done on Tuesday will be rescheduled for Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

The routes for Monday, Thursday, and Friday will continue to operate according to their usual timetables.

On Tuesday, February 13, 2024, the Recycling stations, including the Team Green Recycling Truck and the Incinerator, will be closed. However, they will be back open and operating under their regular hours on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

The City of Lake Charles also indicated that containers and other items for removal should be placed out before 7 am on the day of collection or the evening before. Containers should be removed by 7 pm on the collection day.

It is the responsibility of the owner, occupant, tenant, etc., to gather and clean up any spill from the container.

In observance of Mardi Gras, both City Hall and all other services provided by the Department of Public Works will be non-operational on Tuesday, February 13, 2024. Normal working hours will resume on Wednesday, February 14, 2023.

Due to the Mardi Gras Holiday, the Lake Charles City Council Agenda Meeting that was supposed to happen on Tuesday, February 13 will not be held.
