Lake Charles, Louisiana - The Lake Charles Police Department is asking drivers to avoid Gerstner Memorial Boulevard (Highway 14) at East McNeese Street until approximately 7 p.m. because of a crash that is blocking multiple lanes of traffic.

According to information released by police, the incident has blocked multiple lanes, leading authorities to request for motorists to stay away from the area while the scene is being cleared. Officials did not immediately release details about how many vehicles are involved, whether there are injuries, or how long the roadway has already been impacted.

The affected stretch of Gerstner Memorial Boulevard is a key corridor in Lake Charles, carrying local traffic as well as drivers traveling through the city. With multiple lanes blocked, congestion is likely not only on Highway 14 but also on nearby streets as drivers seek alternate routes.

Police are urging drivers to plan ahead, use detours where possible, and allow extra time if travel near East McNeese Street cannot be avoided. Motorists who must be in the area are advised to reduce speed, stay alert for officers directing traffic, and watch for sudden stops as vehicles merge around the blocked lanes.
