Lake Charles Police Investigating Homicide at Event Center Seawall

The Lake Charles Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation following a fatal shooting near the seawall at the Lake Charles Event Center early Sunday morning. Officers responded to the scene at around 6 a.m., where they discovered one person dead from a gunshot wound in the waterfront area.

By 7 a.m., authorities had blocked off the area stretching from behind the amphitheater to the fountain on the north side of the event center’s property. Police vehicles and crime scene tape surrounded the scene, effectively limiting access as officers secured evidence and worked to gather information.

Police are encouraging anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Lake Charles Police Department at 337-491-1311. As the investigation continues, more details are expected to be released when available.

Law enforcement officials have not released the identity of the victim or provided information regarding suspects.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
