Lake Charles Police Investigate Fatal Shooting On 3rd Avenue Friday Night

Lake Charles, Louisiana - The Lake Charles Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Friday night in the 800 block of 3rd Avenue, resulting in one death.

Officers responded to the shooting call at 10:51 p.m. on Oct. 3, 2025. Upon arrival at the scene, police located a victim in a nearby parking lot, according to department officials.

The victim was immediately transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Despite medical intervention, the victim later died from their injuries sustained in the shooting.

Officer Alex Dougherty served as the initial reporting officer on the case. Evidence Officer Melanie Cooley processed the crime scene for potential evidence and clues related to the investigation.

Sgt. Kevin Hoover has been assigned as the lead investigator for the homicide case. The investigation remains active and ongoing as detectives work to gather additional information about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

The Lake Charles Police Department has not released details about potential suspects or motives in the case. No arrests have been announced at this time.
