Lake Charles Police Identify Victim in Fatal Shooting Outside Local Bar

Lake Charles, Louisiana - Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal shooting that occurred early Saturday morning outside a popular Lake Charles bar. According to police, the incident happened just before 3 a.m. on August 2 at On the Rocks, located on McNeese Street, where officers were working to disperse a large crowd gathered in the parking lot.

As law enforcement cleared the area, gunshots rang out, prompting a response from officers on the scene. Officers discovered Johnjose Connor Welsh, 20, of Lake Charles, lying in the parking lot with apparent gunshot wounds. Emergency personnel immediately started life-saving measures and transported Welsh to a local hospital. Despite the quick response, Welsh later succumbed to his injuries.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
