According to the Lake Charles Police Department, officers were dispatched at 8:11 p.m. to the intersection of Lakeshore Drive and Gill Street in reference to a crash involving a horse-drawn carriage. When officers arrived on scene, they learned that a silver vehicle had fled the area, heading south on Shell Beach Drive.

Police later located the vehicle in the 2900 block of Cypress Street in Lake Charles.

The driver, identified by police as Monica Denise Guillory, 49, of Lake Charles, was issued a summons on the following charges:

  • Hit and run driving
  • Driving under suspension
  • Operating a motor vehicle with no insurance

A summons is a legal notice requiring a person to appear in court to answer to the listed charges. It is not a finding of guilt.
