Lake Charles Pedestrian Fatality Leads to Multiple Charges Against Suspected Drunk Driver

Lake Charles, Louisiana – A tragic incident occurred early in the morning on February 23, when a pedestrian was struck and killed in Lake Charles Louisiana. The crash took place just before 4 a.m. in the 4900 block of Common Street. The victim, identified as 26-year-old Robert Charles Wyckoff Jr., suffered severe injuries and, despite life-saving measures performed at the scene, succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

The police have identified the suspect in this deadly crash as 25-year-old Broc Dearman, a resident of Lake Charles. According to authorities, Dearman was allegedly driving under the influence at the time of the incident. He faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, fourth-offense driving while intoxicated (DWI), and driving under suspension.

Each charge carries potential penalties that could lead to substantial prison time, particularly the vehicular homicide charge, which is pursued in cases where a death results from reckless or impaired driving.

The Lake Charles Police Department is currently conducting an ongoing investigation into the crash.
