The crash took place just before 4 a.m. in the 4900 block of Common Street. The victim, identified as 26-year-old Robert Charles Wyckoff Jr., suffered severe injuries and, despite life-saving measures performed at the scene, succumbed to his injuries shortly thereafter.

The police have identified the suspect in this deadly crash as 25-year-old Broc Dearman, a resident of Lake Charles. According to authorities, Dearman was allegedly driving under the influence at the time of the incident. He faces multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, fourth-offense driving while intoxicated (DWI), and driving under suspension.
