Lake Charles, Louisiana – City of Lake Charles officials are actively collaborating with law enforcement, public safety agencies, the U.S. National Weather Service in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Mardi Gras of Southwest Louisiana, Inc., to keep track of weather conditions leading up to Mardi Gras Day. As of Monday, March 3, at 3:30 PM, all events scheduled for Tuesday, March 4, are set to proceed as planned except Mardi Gras in the Zone Kid’s Area. However, any alterations to the Mardi Gras Day parade schedule will be communicated by 9 AM on the day of the festivities.
Residents and visitors planning to attend the parade or participate as float riders should be aware of potential hazards posed by strong and gusty winds expected throughout the mid-morning to mid-afternoon hours. Wind advisories are currently in effect, advising the public against erecting tents or canopies in these conditions, as they may pose safety risks.
