Lake Charles, Louisiana – Lake Charles resident Terrance D. Haywood, 42, has been sentenced to a total of 110 years in prison after being convicted of attempted second-degree murder, obstruction of justice, and illegal possession of a firearm.

Judge David Ritchie delivered the sentence on March 21st in Calcasieu Parish, ordering that Haywood serve 50 years for attempted second-degree murder, 40 years for obstruction of justice, and 20 years for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The judge ruled that these sentences would run consecutively rather than concurrently, resulting in the lengthy 110-year total term.

The case stems from a 2020 incident in which Haywood shot at the victim multiple times. Despite sustaining multiple gunshot wounds, the victim survived their injuries, according to the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.

The prosecution was led by Assistant District Attorneys Christopher Guelzow and Jordan Sutterfield, who successfully secured the conviction through the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office.
