Lake Charles, Louisiana – On February 14th, Judge Joseph Pousson imposed a significant sentence on Zyterius T. Anderson, 22, of Lake Charles, Louisiana following his conviction for multiple serious offenses, including two counts of second degree murder that occurred in 2022. Anderson was sentenced to twenty years in prison for possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies and an additional seven years for illegal use or possession of weapons related to a crime of violence or controlled dangerous substances.

The two counts of second degree murder, stemming from the shooting deaths of two men during a drug exchange in 2022, resulted in life sentences for Anderson. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning he will serve them at the same time rather than consecutively. The judge also specified that Anderson will not be eligible for probation, parole, or any suspension of his sentence.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Lea Hall and Patricia Beasley from the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney's Office. They presented evidence that Anderson shot at the victims during the drug transaction, leading to their deaths and highlighting the dangers associated with illegal drug activities.
