Lake Charles Man Killed in Head-On Crash on LA 397 in Calcasieu Parish

From Louisiana State Police, Calcasieu Parish – Shortly before 6:00 p.m. on June 20, 2021, Louisiana State Police Troop D was notified of a two-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 397 near milepost 15.3, south of US 90 in Calcasieu Parish. The crash claimed the life of 58-year-old Clyde J. Jeanisse of Lake Charles.

The preliminary investigation revealed Jeanisse was driving a 2013 Ford F-150 south of LA 397. At the same time, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, being driven by 20-year old Calixto Calo-Taperia of Lake Charles, was traveling north. For reasons still under investigation, Calo-Taperia lost control of his pickup, crossed the center line, and struck the F-150 head-on in the southbound lane of travel.
Both drivers were properly restrained at the time of the crash. Jeanisse was transported to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injures. Calo-Taperia suffered only minor injuries and was also transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Impairment is not suspected and routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers. This crash remains under investigation.
Troop D has investigated 13 fatal crashes resulting in 13 deaths in 2021.
