Lake Charles, LA – Zyterius T. Anderson, 22, of Lake Charles, Louisiana was found guilty on February 6 of multiple serious charges brought by the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office. The charges include one count of possession of a firearm by a person previously convicted of certain felonies, one count of illegal use or possession of weapons in connection with a crime of violence involving controlled dangerous substances, and two counts of second-degree murder.

The convictions stem from an incident in 2022, during which Anderson shot and killed two men during what was described as a drug transaction. Second-degree murder is defined as the unlawful killing of another person with intent and malice, but without premeditation. This means that while the act was intentional, it was not planned in advance.

Assistant District Attorneys Lea Hall and Patricia Beasley led the prosecution in this case. Anderson is scheduled for sentencing on March 26, 2025, where he will appear before Judge Joseph Pousson. The implications of these charges carry serious penalties, particularly given the nature of the offenses and the history of firearm possession by the defendant.
