Lake Charles Man Found Guilty of 2nd Degree Murder, Possession of a Firearm by a Felon
On March 4, 2022, the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office announced that James Sanford Snider, 62, of Lake Charles, LA was found guilty as charged of one count of second-degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm or carrying of a concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies.
Snider shot the victim in the chest killing them on September 24, 2020. Snider was not allowed to possess a firearm because he has previously been convicted of manslaughter. Video clearly showed Snider in possession of a firearm and murdering the victim.
Snider could spend the rest of his life in prison. On March 17, 2022, Judge Michael Canaday will sentence the defendant.
For the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office, Assistant District Attorney Bobby Holmes and Christopher Guelzow prosecuted the case.
