Lake Charles Man Convicted of 2021 Murder After Shooting Someone in the Street
Lake Charles, Louisiana – A man from Lake Charles has been convicted of a 2021 murder after shooting someone in the street.
On June 5th, 2023, the Calcasieu Parish District Attorney’s Office announced that on June 2, Steven D. Rigmaiden, 30, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, had been convicted of Second Degree Murder.
On June 19, 2021, a shooting incident occurred near Albert and Elder Streets in Lake Charles, resulting in the death of Ezekiel Joubert. Rigmaiden was found to be responsible for the deadly shooting, which left Joubert’s body lying in the middle of the road. Rigmaiden faces a life sentence and his sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 14th, before Judge Michael Canaday.
Prosecutors Bobby Holmes and Joey Williams represented the District Attorney’s Office in the case.
