Lake Charles, Louisiana - A 20-year-old Lake Charles man faces multiple charges related to child sexual abuse material following a months-long investigation by Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office detectives.

Cedric Borel Jr. of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested on August 28 and charged with three counts of pornography involving juvenile. He is currently being held at the Calcasieu Correctional Center on a $120,000 bond set by Judge Tony Fazzio.

The investigation began on May 12 when detectives from the sheriff's office Special Victim Unit received a complaint from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. The detectives, who are members of the Office of the Louisiana Attorney General Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, discovered that Borel was in possession of child sexual abuse material during their investigation.

The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is a specialized unit that investigates cases involving the exploitation of minors online. These investigations often involve collaboration between local, state and federal agencies to identify and prosecute individuals who possess, distribute or produce illegal material involving children.

Senior Sergeant Alexander Vincent of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Special Victim Unit serves as the lead investigator on the case.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children frequently provides tips to law enforcement agencies across the country when they identify potential cases of child exploitation. The organization works closely with technology companies and internet service providers to detect and report suspected illegal activity.

The charges against Borel carry serious penalties under Louisiana law. Pornography involving juveniles is classified as a felony offense that can result in significant prison time and mandatory registration as a sex offender upon conviction.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
