Lake Charles Man Arrested for Home Invasion and Cruelty to Animals

Lake Charles, LA – According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, CPSO deputies were dispatched to a home on North Perkins Ferry Road in Moss Bluff, LA on March 7, 2022, in reference to a disturbance.
When deputies arrived, they discovered that Robert C. Willis, 33, of Lake Charles, LA, had allegedly gone to the victim’s home, where he is an acquaintance, and demanded money and other items from him. Willis also allegedly stabbed the dog in the head and neck after the victim opened his back door and his dog came out from inside the house to use the restroom. Willis then entered the house and threatened to stab the people inside with a knife. Willis left the house and threatened to return with a gun.

Willis was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center after deputies found him at his home. He was charged with home invasion, aggravated cruelty to animals, and two counts of aggravated assault. His bond was set at $14,000 by Judge Kendrick Guidry.

The dog had severe lacerations and was taken to a local emergency veterinarian’s office to be treated for his injuries.

Deputy Dylan Davis of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is the arresting officer in this case. Detective John Coffman of the CPSO is the case’s lead investigator.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
