Lake Charles, Louisiana – A 32-year-old Lake Charles man, Andrew A. Taraba, has been arrested and charged with 1st-degree rape of a victim under 13 and sexual battery of a victim under 13, following an investigation by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office.

On September 5, deputies responded to a call about a missing juvenile at a Lake Charles residence. During their investigation, they discovered that the girl was being sexually abused by Taraba, a family member. When detectives questioned Taraba about the allegations, he reportedly confessed to the abuse.

Taraba was taken into custody and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Judge Kendrick Guidry set his bond at $800,000. The lead investigator on the case is CPSO Special Victims Unit Detective Eric Perry.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
