Lake Charles, Louisiana - Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested a Lake Charles man on a charge of second-degree rape following an investigation launched on February 1, according to information released by the agency.
The Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit began investigating after receiving a report of a rape involving a victim under the age of 17. During the course of the investigation, detectives say they learned that Jayvon B. White, 20, of Lake Charles, allegedly forcefully raped the minor victim.
Investigators reported that injuries observed on the victim were consistent with the level of force described in the allegation. Authorities did not release additional details about the victim, citing the person’s age and the sensitive nature of the case.
Deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office located White following the report and took him into custody. He was then transported to and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center.
White is charged with second-degree rape, a serious felony offense under Louisiana law.
Judge Kendrick Guidry set White’s bond at $150,000.
The Sheriff’s Office identified Sr. Cpl. Joshua Gilmore as the arresting deputy in the case. Detective Chassie Huval with the Special Victims Unit is listed as the lead investigator.
