Lake Charles Man Arrested, Charged with Rape After Authorities Receive Report From Local Hospital

Lake Charles, Louisiana – The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office reported on September 6, 2022, that on September 3, CPSO deputies responded to a local hospital in response to a call about a rape that occurred earlier that morning.

During the inquiry, officers learned that the suspect was Jose R. Barahona, 23, of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Detectives located Barahona later the same day and after speaking with him he was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with 3rd-degree rape. Judge Tony Fazzio set his bond at $750,000.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Detective Kimberly Curran is the lead investigator on this case.

An arrest is an indication that probable cause exists to believe the subject was involved in the offense alleged. A person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
