From the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office – On November 2, 2019, at approximately 11:00 p.m. a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop on an SUV near the intersection of Ernest Street and West Hale Street in Lake Charles for a traffic violation.

When the deputy spoke with the driver, Dillon S. Johnson, 26, 5532 Central Drive, Lake Charles, he detected an odor of alcohol emitting from his breath along with glassy eyes. The deputy also observed Johnson to have a hard time maintaining his balance. While speaking with the deputy Johnson advised he had drank three alcoholic beverages. Johnson also stated he had been consuming alcohol from approximately noon until an hour before driving.

After Johnson performed poorly on a standard field sobriety test he was arrested and transported to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for breath intoxilyzer test; which revealed he was over the legal limit.

Johnson, who has 2 prior DWI arrests, was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with DWI 3rd; and two brake lights required. Judge Robert Wyatt set his bond at $10,250.

CPSO Deputy Robert Nordan was the arresting deputy on this case.
