Published February 1, 2021

A Lake Charles man previously convicted of 1st-degree rape has been arrested by the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office for failure to register as a sex offender.

From CPSO – On January 21, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office Sex Offender detectives learned John D. Fields, 65, 4404 Woodcrest Street, Lake Charles, a convicted sex offender, was possibly living and working in Calcasieu Parish and failed to notify local law enforcement, making him in violation of his sex offender registration requirements.

On January 29, Fields reported to the CPSO Sex Offender Unit and confirmed he had been living and working in Calcasieu Parish since November 2020 and did not complete his sex offender registration. He was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with failure to register as a sex offender. He was released later the same day on a $10,000 bond set by Judge Tony Fazzio.

Fields was convicted of 1st-degree rape in 2004 in Oklahoma.

CPSO Detective Cory Myers is the lead investigator on this case.
