LAKE CHARLES, La. — A Lake Charles man was arrested early March 9 after Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a reported robbery and assault at a home off Nelson Road, authorities said.
According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to the neighborhood at about 3 a.m. in reference to a robbery and assault. During the initial investigation, the victim told deputies an unknown man entered her home.
The victim said she armed herself with a firearm and another weapon, but the suspect disarmed her and then sexually assaulted her, according to the Sheriff’s Office. She later told deputies that when the suspect left the room, she was able to flee the home.
After arriving at the scene, deputies saw a man walking near the residence and attempted to make contact with him, authorities said. The man then fled on foot. Following a brief foot pursuit, deputies detained the suspect.
Investigators said deputies found the man in possession of the victim’s gun, along with several other items that belonged to the victim.
The suspect initially gave deputies a false name, the Sheriff’s Office said. With assistance from the CPSO Real Time Crime Center, deputies later identified him as Phillip J. Perrodin Jr., 35, of Lake Charles.
Perrodin was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center on the following charges:
- Aggravated burglary
- Theft of a firearm
- Simple robbery
- Simple battery
- Aggravated assault with a firearm
- Sexual battery
- Resisting an officer by flight
- Resisting an officer by failure to identify
- Theft under $1,000
- Possession of CDS IV
Judge Tony Fazzio set bond at $511,000, according to authorities.
The Sheriff’s Office said Cpl. Allen Wyninger was the arresting deputy in the case. Detective Kent Pevoto is the lead investigator.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
