Detectives from the Combined Anti-Drug Task Force (C.A.T. Team) carried out two search warrants on September 26. These were part of their ongoing investigation into 45-year-old Norvell K. Harris from Lake Charles, Louisiana who was suspected of distributing illegal drugs in Calcasieu Parish.

Detectives found out through their investigation that Harris was using a storage facility on Sharon Lane in Lake Charles to keep a large amount of narcotics. They obtained a search warrant for the place and during the raid, confiscated around 2.5 pounds of compressed cocaine, 30 pounds of marijuana, 1.3 pounds of variously colored MDMA tablets, 1.5 pounds of heroin, 12 grams of THC chocolate bars, 2,500 milligrams of THC gummies, a handgun, and a number of drug-related items.

Detectives, with the aid of the Calcasieu Parish ACT-Team, carried out a search warrant at Harris’s residence on Lake Fairway Drive in Lake Charles. During the operation, they confiscated 2 pounds of marijuana, 33 multi-colored MDMA tablets, 1.11 grams of blue MDMA powder, 3 mushroom-infused chocolate bars, 18.48 grams of THC edibles, 3 boxes of ammunition, and 1 handgun magazine. They also found various drug-related items. The total estimated market value of all illegal substances recovered is around $86,000.

Harris was apprehended and booked at the Calcasieu Correctional Center, where he was charged with 2 counts of possession of CDS I with intent to distribute; possession of CDS II with intent to distribute; illegal possession of a firearm in the presence of CDS; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Judge Ron Ware established his bail at $315,000.

In a collaborative probe in 2014 involving C.A.T detectives and the Louisiana State Police Narcotics, Harris was under investigation. Subsequently, he was found guilty in a federal court of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances. Furthermore, the United States Marshal’s Service currently has a detainer for him since he remains on federal probation until 2027.

The Combined Anti-Drug Task Force, which is a cooperative initiative involving law enforcement personnel from local, state, and federal levels, is dedicated to stopping the transport of unlawful drugs in Calcasieu Parish.
