Moss Bluff, Louisiana – A 56-year-old Lake Charles man faces serious charges after allegedly shooting another person multiple times during an argument at a Moss Bluff residence late Sunday night.
Christopher W. Jones, 56, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with domestic abuse battery with a dangerous weapon with serious bodily injury following the incident, which occurred on October 19 at approximately 11:30 p.m. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting at the residence.
Deputies arrived at the scene and began interviewing witnesses who were present during the incident. Through their investigation, detectives determined that Jones was responsible for the shooting. When questioned by law enforcement, Jones reportedly admitted to firing the weapon at the victim inside the home during what he described as a heated argument.
The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Following his arrest, Jones was booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. Judge Tony Fazzio ordered Jones held without bond pending a Gwen’s Law Hearing. Gwen’s Law, named after Gwendolyn Patin who was killed by her husband in 2010, allows judges to hold defendants without bond in domestic violence cases when there is substantial risk to the victim or public safety.
CPSO Deputy Ian Porter served as the arresting deputy in the case. Detective Shane Broussard has been assigned as the lead investigator and will continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to gather additional evidence and information about the incident. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office has not released further details about what led to the argument or whether there were any prior domestic incidents between the parties involved.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
