Lake Charles, Louisiana - Lake Charles Police have arrested a 35-year-old man in connection with a Nov. 19 shooting that left another man hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds.
According to the Lake Charles Police Department, officers were called at 3:54 p.m. on Nov. 19, 2025, to a reported shooting in the 2000 block of 7th Avenue. When officers arrived, they found 43-year-old John Davis lying in the roadway with several gunshot wounds.
Davis was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he is still recovering from his injuries, police said.
Verbal Argument Reportedly Preceded Shooting
Investigators say the shooting began as a verbal altercation outside a home on 7th Avenue.
According to information gathered during the investigation, Davis was standing outside at his mother’s residence when the suspect, identified as 35-year-old Jeremy Isaiah Wyatt, rode by on a bicycle.
Police say Davis and Wyatt got into a verbal argument. During that confrontation, Wyatt allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Davis, then fled the scene on the bike.
Investigators were told that Davis and Wyatt frequently argue when they encounter each other, though police have not released any further details about the history of those disputes or a possible motive.
Suspect Turns Himself In At Police Department
On Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10:01 a.m., Wyatt turned himself in at the Lake Charles Police Department, according to authorities.
He was taken into custody and booked on the following charges:
- Attempted second-degree murder
- Possession of firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon
Wyatt’s bond has been set at $800,000.
Ongoing Investigation, Police Seek Tips
Detective Sgt. Kevin Hoover is the lead investigator in the case.
