Lake Charles, Louisiana – A 46-year-old Lake Charles man has been arrested in Calcasieu Parish following an alleged sexual assault involving a child under the age of nine. Deputies from the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in Lake Charles on July 27, after receiving a report of a disturbance and a possible child abuse case.
During the initial investigation, deputies learned that a young girl disclosed to a family member allegations that Isaiah J. Serrette, 46, of Lake Charles, Louisiana, had restrained her with bondage equipment and sexually assaulted her. Following the disclosure, the child was taken to a local hospital for examination and care.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office continued the investigation and interviewed Serrette, who reportedly confirmed the allegations during questioning. Serrette was subsequently arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center. He faces a charge of first degree rape, a serious felony offense in Louisiana that can carry a life sentence, especially when the victim is under 13 years old. As of the reporting date, his bond is pending determination by the court.
The arresting deputy in the case is Cpl. Olivia Ferguson, and Sr. Sgt. Alexander Vincent serves as the lead investigator.
